IS IT STILL FEBRUARY???

Ok, enough is enough! I NEED SPRING! The last few days have been MAJOR Spring Fever!

But...
I do have some incredible beads that I made this winter - long winter nights mean lots of beads!

I must say this winter produced one of the best batches I have ever done. I found that occasionally the local library discards old CHILDREN'S books. Have you ever noticed how luscious the colors are in Disney books? Well I bought a couple of very well worn books. "Chicken Little" was one of them. Through the winter I carefully cut out all the pages, sliced them into papers for beads and WOW are the colors beautiful. I need to take pictures this weekend and post them - so check back. I'll also put most of them for sale on Etsy and Ebay so check those sites. (Links are on the right side of this blog)

Just imagine those colors with accent beads - VIRBRANT to say the least.

Tonight was the first of two nights of parent-teacher conferences. I find it rather difficult to do two 12 hour days in a row! But maybe these conferences are a bit old fashioned? I think I only had 20 parents tonight. With internet grades and email I don't think parents feel the need to come to school anymore??? Or maybe tonight was just to loaded with other more important activities. But anyway, tonight's attendance makes me think just how much different life is from when I started teaching 18 years ago! Heck, I'm still amazed at a microwave oven!!! And maybe I should try the internet one of these days - I hear it is really amazing.

Next Wheeler Farm Boutique is March 21st - 10am to 3pm at the old Barn. It's free to get into the Boutique so come and spend some time at least browsing all the wonderful wares and say HI!

Need Something for your soul? Try Ballet West!

May I make a small plug for something extraordinary?

I just arrived home after a wonderful date with my niece. I took her to Ballet West's Madame Butterfly - opening night! Is an old lady allowed to write: "OMG!"

Madame Butterfly was so moving, so beautiful. I'm so proud of Salt Lake City for having such a treasure as Ballet West! You really should experience the talent, beauty and work that has gone into this production.... and support the arts!

You still have chances to see Madame Butterfly so go do it, it's good for the soul! Oh, and wear some lovely beads there, take every opportunity to shine!

At Capitol Theatre 50 West 200 South Salt Lake www.balletwest.org (they have a great blog also!)

Here's the Spring 2009 Schedule!

So I just got the email yesterday and just mailed in my booth fee in for the.....

2009 - Live Green Festival In Salt Lake City(http://www.livegreenslc.org/)

at Library Square, downtown Salt Lake City MAY 9, 2009

from 10am to 6pm. I'm so excited!

I love the Live Green Festival with all the great ideas, products and stuff to buy!

"Each year new vendors are added to strengthen existing product offerings and to provide exciting opportunities for the public to learn about green resources in the community. Vendors in the following categories are desired: alternative transportation, sustainable and recycled products for home and business, green services, community advocacy organizations, green buildings and architects, natural and organic food vendors, local plant vendors, sustainable artists, and alternative energy companies"

---that's what the event planners are looking for! Sounds good, doesn't it.

Please, there has to be something that you would find interesting. I just know it will be beautiful weather! So mark it on your calendar now!

OK.... That was the good news. Now the sort-a-bad or sad news:

I Won't be retiring from teaching this year! No sitting in front of the front window all day long on a snowy winter day, in my pajamas, with an endless cup of coffee, with no where to go....

Oh well! The economy is just a bit too tough for me to hang it up yet! Besides, I need to be with all my friends at the school! What would I do without my young students keeping me laughing everyday!

But luckily teaching is the perfect job for doing weekend festivals and summer farmer's markets!
